What is Snap-8?
Snap-8 is an eight-amino-acid peptide, an elongated analogue of the hexapeptide Argireline, that mimics the N-terminal end of the SNAP-25 protein.
Mechanism of Action
Snap-8 competes with SNAP-25 for a position in the SNARE complex, which is required for acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. Destabilising this complex reduces muscle-contraction strength in expression lines.
Research Applications
Snap-8 is used in cosmetic and dermatological research on expression wrinkles, particularly around the forehead and eyes.
Storage & Handling
Supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder for maximum stability. Store unopened vials at -20°C, protected from light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe appropriate to your study protocol.
